Neil Pattison

Background: Neil trained as a doctor in Auckland and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, spending three years as a junior doctor in New Zealand before travelling overseas. In Britain he advanced his training for six years, two at St Mary’s in Manchester, two at Freedom Fields Hospital in Plymouth and two years of research at The John Radcliffe in Oxford.

He then returned to Auckland where he joined National Women’s Hospital sharing his time equally between clinical practice as an obstetric specialist and academic teaching and research at the University of Auckland as an Associate Professor. His clinical time at National Women’s was as head of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine department, a unit specializing in major complications of pregnancy. In 1996 he brought these skills into private obstetrics.

Over the last 14 years Neil has enjoyed providing one to one individualised care, to women having normal and complicated pregnancies and births. He delivers 3 -4 babies a week and has been present for more than 95% of the births of the women who book with him.

Neil enjoys delivering 1:1 care to expectant couples. He is proud to bring his enormous experience in order to provide the best possible outcome for you and your new baby. He is expert at normal birthing but it is great to know that he can handle any deviation from this.

 

Denys Court

Background:  Denys graduated from Otago Medical School. After three years as a resident doctor in New Zealand he commenced training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) in Canada, completing this in New Zealand before taking up a research fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Institute of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF); doing research in fetal cardiovascular physiology. He also worked as an O&G specialist at UCSF.

Denys then returned to Auckland where he joined National Women’s Hospital sharing his time equally between clinical practice as an obstetric specialist and academic teaching and research at the University of Auckland as a Senior Lecturer. Thereafter, Denys completed more than 10 years in solo private practice before becoming the founding Chairman and one of 6 obstetricians at Auckland Obstetric Centre (AOC).

In 2005 he resigned from AOC and was appointed as the Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Auckland City Hospital, being promoted to Clinical Leader of Women’s Health in 2007; a position which is both clinical and administrative. As this latter position is part time it has allowed Denys to recommence private practice in 2007 whilst maintaining a public sector role. He chose to join Neil in practice because of a shared philosophy of care.
 

Jules Pattison

Jules-crop.jpgQualifications: Registered General Nurse NZ, Registered Midwife, Melbourne, Diploma of Business Auckland University.

Background:  Jules has been a midwife for nearly 30 years, 10 of which were as a busy independent midwife. Her focus now is on providing midwifery advice and administrative support to 'pregnancy partners'. Jules’ expertise in post natal care includes a talented approach to breast feeding and she has lots of tips and advice. Neil and Jules are husband and wife.
